Job Title: Fabricator
Location: Rosyth
Salary: £36,231 + Overtime + Benefits
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
Contract: Permanent/ Contract
PMA Recruitment Services is currently seeking multiple qualified and experienced Fabricators to join our renowned client team. Our client is currently working on one of the most exhilarating projects in the country and is at the forefront of supporting the production of the Inspiration class of warships. As a Fabricator, you will have the chance to be part of a project that pushes the boundaries of innovation and challenges the status quo.
The Role
Daily, you will be responsible for various fabrication activities, including structural steel fabrication, working with high tolerances, lining out and marking off, interpretation of drawings and specifications, grinding, burning, and drilling, use of disc cutters, guillotine and band saws, arc air gouging, tack welding, making molds and templates, and fabrication and fitting ventilation.
In addition to your routine maintenance checks, you will be expected to plan and execute operations in a safe and controlled manner, adhering to Health and Safety regulations and job-specific method statements. You will take ownership of activities and processes within your manufacturing responsibilities, ensuring that safe working practices are always followed, as per our “safety first” culture.
Requirements
- Demonstrate the ability to read engineering drawings and interpret work instructions.
- Highly competent in using hand-held and semi-automatic burning equipment, as well as general workshop machinery and tools specific to fabrication.
- Prior experience in the marine industry, particularly working with Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels, or large commercial ships, would be advantageous. However, other relevant experiences will also be taken into consideration.
Qualifications
- An indentured apprenticeship.
- A Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in sheet metal, structural steel, or fabrication-related discipline.
- Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role.
